Pakistan elections

In the news this week controversy over the Pakistan presidential elections.

IFES has some background information on the elections.

Elections Pakistan is a long established internet news site about elections in pakistan.

The official Pakistan Election Commission website has a 2007 section with information on procedures and candidates.

There are some useful recent surveys of voters and reports on Pakistan politics on the IRI (International Republican Institute website.)

Asian Network for free and fair elections (a network of civil society organisations) has also created a special page where it is linking to monitoring reports and posting its own updates on the state of democracy in Pakistan.

Peoples Action for fair and free elections is an NGO based in pakistan. It has coverage of parliamentary elections in 2005-6 but as yet no postings for 2007.

The Pakistan peoples Party reports the news from the perspective of Benazir Bhutto.

Pakistan Muslim league also has coverage condemning General Musharraf
