The Malawi Election Commission has some official information on the conduct of the election and its results.

The BBC World Service has been following the elections. see their sites for photos, news, analysis and twitter updates from the team on the ground.
The EU also sent an observation mission. You can read their preliminary report on the conduct of the elections on the website
The Commonwealth Secretariat mission used a twitter account to report their intial findings. You can read the preliminary statement. It also has a collections of photos on their Flickr website
Electoral Institute of Southern Africa (EISA) has created an online archive of papers. These include election results from 1961 onwards, papers and election observation reports from EISA missions covering parliamentary and presidential elections from approximately 2004 onwards.
Malawi votes 2009 - is an interesting intiative of the African elections Project which used twitter to cover the elections . It includes postings discussing the conduct of the elections and newspaper reports.
