Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM) : Exploring Clouds at the edge of Space

http://aim.hamptonu.edu/

This is the website of the Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM) mission which is part of NASA's Sun-Earth Connection Education Forum. The mission is exploring Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs), also known as noctilucent clouds, to find out why they form and why they have recently been observed in much more southern latitudes. As this is the first time these clouds have been studied in detail, results from the project will provide a basis for studying the long-term variability of the mesospheric climate. The website outlines the mission, the research team, and partner organisations, and provides a mission library containing relevant references. Also provided is a separate education and public outreach resources page which includes science overviews, images, animations, games and other educational material relevant to the project.
