The Pensions Commission was an independent body set up to keep under review the regime for UK private pensions and long term savings. The commission was announced in the Pensions Green Paper published in December 2002. Chairman Adair Turner, was the lead author on 3 reports, with the final recommendations coming out in April 2006 - these included raising the retirement age to 68 by 2050, future pension rises linked to earnings rather than inflation and reducing the means-testing of pension benefits. The reports and supporting documents are available from the website as PDF files. The Commission has completed its work and this is now an archived copy of their website.
