This is the webpage for the free publication Annual Survey of Trends in Education produced by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER). The NFER Annual Surveys are a series of questionnaire surveys of primary schools carried out with the purpose of collecting and disseminating up-to-date views from schools on current issues in education. The editorial of the latest edition plus the latest in a series of questionnaire surveys of primary schools is presented first, followed by downloads in PDF of previous editions listed chronologically. Catalyst: Voices of Chicago School Reform

Catalyst is an 'independent newsmagazine' that was originally created in 1990. It aims to examine and explore issues concerned with supporting efforts to improve public schools in Chicago. The magazine is published monthly by the Community Renewal Society, a 'faith-based' organisation that seeks to create 'just communities' in Chicago. Each issue includes reporting on a topical theme as well as standard sections and columns. The website provides access to the latest issue as well as an archive of previous issues. A significant amount of content is also available in Spanish. As well as the magazine the site also provides other resources including school data, policy and law information, and a directory of people and schools. A reform history section also includes a timeline of school reform in Chicago.

It reviews children's perception of the citizenship education delivered by the UK's national curriculum. Founded in 1967 by the philosopher Nelson Goodman, the group was set up to investigate the development of learning processes in children, adults and organisations. Innovative Grouping Practices In Secondary Schools

This report, written by Judith Ireson (Institue of Education, University of London) and published by the Department for Education and Skills in September 1999, provides information about different types of pupil ability groupings used in secondary schools. The report defines traditional grouping strategies, such as streaming, banding and setting, evaluates their relative impact on pupil attainment and introduces new research about innovatory practices in pupil grouping recently conducted by the Institute of Education in an ESRC funded project. Key findings from the research include an increasing preference in schools for grouping arrangements that allow flexibility for pupils to move from one group to another, and grouping patterns to meet identified needs of particular groups of pupils.
