The Academy of European Law was established by the European University Institute (EUI) in 1990 to promote teaching and scholarship in the fields of European Union Law and Human Rights Law. It holds annual advanced-level courses on these subjects and publishes the content as Collected Courses of the Academy of European Law. The 35 page report critically analyses public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents (the equivalent of Freedom of Information legislation in the UK). The ACP-EU is the Joint Assembly of the convention concluded by the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific States. It aims to promote democracy and human rights in these areas. This Guide is provided by the European Commission as part of its Summaries of Legislation website. It gives the background to and objectives of the Amsterdam Treaty which was signed by the European Union member states in October 1997, amending two of the EU's fundamental treaties, the Treaty Establishing the European Community and the Treaty on European Union. A number of key issues are covered, including the Treaty's bearing on international security, human rights, social policy, foreign policy, commercial policy and EU institutional reforms. The Guide is undated, but appears to have been produced at around the time the Treaty was signed.

Accounts typically give balance sheets for each party, listings of assets, revenue and expenditure in the financial year. This guide forms a chapter within the ASIL's Guide to Electronic Resources for International law and is made freely available on the American Society of International Law's website. The author provides an overview of the treaties establishing the European Union including a section on the Lisbon Treaty. There is guidance on using the Europa website, finding EU legislation and the legislative process. The guide outlines the powers of key European institutions including the European Commission, Council of the European Union, European Parliament, Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions. There is information on the case law of the EU courts and on searching for particular cases on the Curia website. There is also guidance on finding topical information including social policy, health and consumer protection and human rights. The guide includes links and references to printed and online sources of EU information.
