A free online research guide focusing on New Zealand law and legal materials written by Margaret Greville who is the Law Librarian at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. The guide was published in 2005 on the Globalex Website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. Background information is given to the New Zealand Government and legal system along with sources of primary legal information including treaties, legislation and case law. Links are provided to web resources and bibliographic details are given for printed materials. There is also information on legal publishers, legal reference tools and a guide to sources covering specific legal subjects such as banking, criminal law, family law, intellectual property, maritime law, rights and freedoms and personal injury. This is an updated version of the guide published in 2002 on LLRX.com (Law Library Resource Xchange) the free online web journal for legal information professionals.

The site provides information on the history, role and structure of the court and gives an outline of the key pieces of legislation that resulted in the setting up of the Court. There is guidance on taking a case to the Employment Court including a link to the full text of the Employment Court Regulations 2000. All the related forms are available to download. Full text judgements are available from 2006 onwards and can be downloaded in PDF. The most important decisions taken by the Court are highlighted. The names of all the judges sitting at the Court are given going back to 1894 when the court was first set up as the Court of Arbitration.

The Maori Land Legislation Database is made freely available by Dr David Williams who is associate professor in law at the University of Auckland and the University of Auckland library. This searchable database has summaries of New Zealand legislation which has affected Maori land and extends back to 1840. The database includes public, private and local acts and acts relating to gold, wasteland and harbours. Legislation can be searched by keyword or date and the records are displayed with brief or full details. Some records contain just the title and date while others include citation, amendments and commentary. The separate lists of gold, wasteland and harbour acts do not have links to the full record and have to be pasted into the search screen.
