Brief biographical information is given for over 125 women scientists, covering inventors, scholars, writers, mathematicians and astronomers, for the period up to the 19th century. Some 20th century scientists are listed with links to sites containing further information. References to books and journal articles, photographs, a quiz, a crossword puzzle and links to other sites are also included. This site grew out of the public talks given by Dr Sethanne Howard and has been created by Dr Howard and Dr Deborah Crocker.

For each chemist named, the 'intellectual line of descent' is traced, showing the person's mentors, and those people he or she would later inspire or teach. A short biography of each scientist is provided in PDF format, which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. The biography contains dates, place(s) of study, brief accompanying text and references.
