Burning issue : energy from waste in Scotland

http://www.sd-commission.org.uk/publications.php?id=651

This online publication, from the Sustainable Development Commission, Scotland, provides information on a review of the use of waste to provide an energy source. Concentrating on environmental policy issues, the review provides advice on waste policy and the role of energy from waste. All areas of waste management were investigated including municipal or domestic waste; commercial sources; recycling, reuse and reduction schemes. Recommendations for improvement to systems and policy accept that landfill is unavoidable in Scotland, but that there are many options for energy from waste, and ways to improve waste management processes. The document can be downloaded as a PDF file.
