Die Oper in Italien und Deutschland zwischen 1770 und 1830
http://www.oper-um-1800.uni-koeln.de/
Die Oper in Italien und Deutschland zwischen 1770 und 1830 is a significant online database that was created in 2000 with the cooperation of the Austrian National Library, the State and National Library Dresden, the Berlin State Library, Bavarian State Library and the Archive of the German Weimar National Theatre. The database contains digital surrogates of manuscripts and early versions of operas and their libretti in Italy and Germany from 1770 to 1830. Containing over 450 manuscripts, 500 composers, 2000 libretti written by nearly 800 librettists, this project received substantial funding from the DFG (Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), German Research Foundation, and the Universities of Bonn and Cologne with the latter hosting this database since 2001.
Using the main search interface, one can search via type of work (i.e. manuscript, version or composer) with the option of applying a limit by time period. One can further refine with drop down menu selections which can be applied in Boolean format: composer, title, language and owning library collection.
One can also separately search via libretti or librettists. Alternatively, one can search via performance series, dates of performances and performance location and venue. Each of the interfaces allows one to sort via that particular facet. This is an invaluable resource providing the opportunity to research the influence and reception of Italian opera in Germany in the heart of Europe during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Royal Opera House collections online
http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/
This website provides access to the Royal Opera House (ROH) collections' catalogue and performance database which were first made available in 2008. These online resources are part of an ongoing project to open up the ROH's collections to as wide and diverse an audience as possible and will be of great value to opera scholars.
The website provides an overview of the ROH's collections, which are divided into three areas: ROH collections, which include, for example, administrative records, artists files, history of the building, and music; special collections, which contain personal collections of Frederick Ashton, Ninette de Valois, and Margot Fonteyn, as well as the Frank Sharman photographic collection; and commissioned collections, which include the Verdi centenary oral history project. Brief introductions are given to each collection in the archive. It is intended that over the coming months, additional catalogue records will be made available online.
The Performance Database is a catalogue of every performance at the Royal Opera House from 1732 to the present day. It is divided into three levels: work (creators and premieres); production (director and design team); and performance (dancers, singers, and music staff). Currently online are all the works performed by the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet (and their earlier names) since 1946, as well as all new productions and first night casts of each production. Similar data for the Birmingham Royal Ballet will be available shortly, and nightly performance records will be added on a regular basis. The database can be searched by title, person, company, character, and date. Records are linked to items in the Collections Catalogue, such as costumes worn in a certain production, and therefore searches can be undertaken across both sets of information.
In addition, the website offers interactive 'Highlights from the Collections', allowing users to focus in detail on certain items, through magnifying images, brief textual explanations, and audio clips. The website launched with three highlights: the costume for Turandot worn by Amy Shuard and Birgit Nilsson, designed by Cecil Beaton in 1963; Constant Lambert’s score for Frederick Ashton’s ballet Dante Sonata (1940); and an architectural detail of the theatre, normally quite difficult to view. Flash is required to view this section of the website.
