This is the website of the American History Printing Association (APHA), founded in 1974 to encourage study in the areas of printing history and its related arts and skills. These include calligraphy, typefounding, typography, papermaking, bookbinding, illustration, and publishing. There are now around 700 members worldwide. The website has information about APHA and its regional chapters. There is also information about its scholarly journal 'Printing History', which is published twice a year. Online are some sample articles, contents of recent issues, back issues information and an index for issue numbers 1-30. Recent issues of the APHA Newsletter can also be downloaded in PDF format. There is also an events section and details of an oral history project relating to printers, illustrators and designers.

'Americana Fantastica: January 1943' is a Web page that contains an online copy of a famous edition of View magazine. This special edition of View (2nd series, No.4, January 1943) was titled 'Americana Fantastica' and it was designed and edited by the artist Joseph Cornell. The website shows medium-sized scans of all 42 pages, laid out in the correct page order, with links to view larger readable versions of pages. This online copy of View has been made freely available by book dealer François Côté of Canada. The text surrounding the pages is in French, while the magazine is in English. The page also has a link to a scan of the index for the second series of View, via the link titled 'cliquez-là'.

Baseline is a magazine of type and typography. It began life in 1979 as a publication of the Letraset company, principally used as a promotional vehicle for new type designs. Since then it has expanded into an international publication whose aim is to "reflect all aspects of type, including its design, history, use and links to the graphic, art and craft scenes". Now published bi-monthly, the magazine contains mainly new articles, taken from both academic and journalistic sources. The baseline website provides contents, abstracts and cover images for current and previous issues (back to issue no. 30, 2001). There is also information about subscription and advertising. Background about the magazine is provided, including history, philosophy, awards and a full list of contributors. An extensive A-Z listing of digital typefoundries, with links, is also provided by the site.

'British Library: Online Gallery Turning the Pages 2.0' is an innovative website/software hybrid that has been created by the British Library and its partners. For users who have fast broadband and Windows Vista, the website offers sixteen online facsimiles of rare books in the British Library collection. The books look and act like the original books in the original bindings and have pages which turn realistically; users can zoom in on fine details or to magnify details using a high-quality 'virtual loupe.' Book titles include: da Vinci's 'Codex Arundel' and 'Codex Leicester'; Charles Dodgson's original bound manuscript of 'Alice's Adventures under Ground'; William Blake's 'Notebook'; the 'Lindisfarne Gospels'; and the 'Sherbourne Missal', among others. Users can also hear the books being read by professional actors. The website is free, and requires registration only for the function that allows individuals to make and keep personal notes about the books. The books can be searched by keyword. The website will also function with Windows XP, but XP users will first need to download and install the free Microsoft .Net Framework v3.0. XP users may also need to specifically give the .Net framework Internet access through a firewall. The website is a good example of the forthcoming range of sophisticated 'browser-delivered software applications.'

Colophon is the website of a three-day international magazine symposium held in Luxembourg in March 2007. The website contains details of the symposium, full-text copies of the 16 pre-event newsletters, extensive photography galleries, and details of the accompanying 400-page print book 'We Love Magazines' (Die Gestalten Verlag, 2007). Visitors can also find a professional 13-minute English-language video report on the event, via the links in Newsletter 16. The Colophon website has a detailed online database of over 1300 small and specialist magazines, which can be sorted and searched in a wide variety of ways. Colophon is supported by European Capital of Culture funding, and by a variety of partners. 'The Cylopedia of Puzzles' is a Web page that reproduces in facsimile the 1914 book "Sam Loyd's Cyclopedia of 5000 Puzzles, Tricks, and Conundrums (With Answers)" (Lamb Publishing, New York). Every page of the book features illustrations and cartoons, and hand-drawn typography. Page images are cleanly scanned, and are presented at a readable size. The entire book can be viewed online or downloaded as a 40Mb Windows ZIP file. Not all pages feature classic puzzles, some are simply observations on puzzling phenomena. The book may be useful for those researching the fashions, pastimes and cultural attitudes of the years immediately before the First World War. Since the book is now in the public domain, it may also serve as a rich mine of free period illustrations.
