M. Dostoevskogo. The site has a good English language version, and all images are annotated. They include: photographs; painted portraits (including modern, posthumous representations); numerous sketches and cartoons; sculpture; commemorative medals. An alphabetical index of artists is provided, with brief biographical details. Perhaps the most useful feature is the section on 'Dostoevsky in the eyes of his contemporaries', which cites the reminiscences of family, friends and colleagues. The site's one flaw is that these extracts are given without citation references, although the page on 'habits' does provide some references. This site will be of most use to teachers and students of Russian literature. |
