It aims to provide a chronicle of the history of the Berlin Wall, its role in Cold war history and its impact on the fall of communism in 1989 and subsequent post-communist history. It contains a timeline of events from 1960-1990, a list of fatalities, eye witness accounts from Berliners, video clips of the fall of the Wall, extracts from film, literature and other writings about the wall. An educational section contains suggested classroom activities. Copyright and technical information is displayed on the site which is offered in German or English. |
