London Architecture Biennale (LAB)
Description: The London Architecture Biennale (LAB), which takes place in June, is a celebration of London as a creative city and architectural centre. Linked to Architecture Week, LAB 2006 runs from 17 to 25 June. The website, as well as providing information about LAB 2006, archives information about the inaugural Biennale and its events, exhibitions and projects, which was held in Clerkenwell in June 2004. LAB 2006 extends to both Kings Cross in the North and to Borough Market in the South, with the 'hub' of the Biennale at Smithfield, site of the traditional St Bartholomew's Market. The aim of the Biennale is to "challenge the understanding of the city and educate the public and local communities through a series of events, talks, walks, parties, seminars, debates, a series of exhibitions and installations". LAB 2006 partners are: Architecture Foundation; Central London Partnership; and London Boroughs of Camden, Southwark, and Islington. The event is supported by the Corporation of London and Transport for London.
