Former Yugoslav collections: overview" provides information on holdings for the constituent countries of the former state of Yugoslavia: Croatia; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Slovenia; Serbia; Montenegro; and Macedonia. The collection includes materials from the sixteenth century onwards, covering the histories of additional entities such as Slavonia, Dalmatia, Kosovo, Dubrovnik (Ragusa), and Vojvodina. The formation and development of the state of Yugoslavia is well-documented in this collection. The collections contain academic series, official publications, and previously forbidden newspapers. It is being developed with an emphasis on materials pertaining to the social and political changes in the region and the ensuing conflicts. The website also contains a link to holdings on the so-called Balkan Crisis (the British Library holds the best collection of material on the collapse of Yugoslavia and the subsequent events). There are links to a bibliography of books on Kosovo, and to other sites within the British Library that may be of use to the reader. |
