Tolpuddle martyrs museum
Description: This is the website of the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum, which was established to commemorate the arrest, trial and punishment of six agricultural workers in Tolpuddle, Dorset for establishing a trade union in 1833. The site carries general information about the museum itself, with opening hours and publications information, along with a section about news and upcoming events, and a contacts list. There is also a brief introduction to the story of George Loveless and the five other men who were transported to Australia for their attempt to organise the local workforce. This section is a little disappointing though, as it does not provide very much information about the Martyrs and their circumstances. However, this is still a useful research for those interested in trade union and labour history. The site features information about the annual Tolpuddle Martyrs' Festival.
