American Rhetoric
Description: This site is maintained by Michael Eidenmuller, Professor of Communications at the University of Texas. It provides free access to a databank of thousands of audio and video files of key American speeches, speeches from films, political addresses, interviews and sermons from the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries. They include extensive coverage of presidential speeches, election conventions, civil rights and international conflicts. The latter include: the war against terrorism, the 2003 Iraq War, the Korean War, Vietnam war and the 9/11 events. Key historical figures include: Martin Luther King, General McArthur. The site also includes an extensive directory of links to newspaper, magazines and research tools and a collection of scholarly essays on political rhetoric.
