The association is formed by veterinarians with a special interest in allergy and immunology problems in small and large animals. The site lists the officers and board members of AVACI and provides membership information and an application form. The association produces a quarterly journal and articles form this journal are published electronically on this site. The association also manages a research foundation fund in memory of Ed Baker a pioneer in the veterinary allergy field and details of this fund are kept on the site.

The Allergy Report is a component of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology's Allergic Disorders: Promoting Best Practice initiative, the goal of which is to improve the health and well being of allergy sufferers. It was written in 2001 by representatives from the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians/American Society of Internal Medicine and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases along with several other medical, governmental and patient advocacy organisations, and is aimed at primary care health professionals.
