Geography of Transport Systems, The

This online initiative aims to provide access to information and educational material related to transport geography. Like its forerunner 'Transport Geography on the Web' , it has been developed by a group of academic geographers from the US and Canada. Its "purpose is to provide free and coherent pedagogical material to educators, researchers, students, and individual learners." There are strict conditions of use, and the material can be "freely used for personal or classroom use only". Content of the site is arranged within nine chapters, and includes a variety of resources such as articles, maps, figures, exercises, GIS-T datasets and MS PowerPoint presentations. Content within the site also relates to economic, urban and regional geography. It is published as an e-book by Routledge, 2006. The website includes a related links section and a Transport Geography glossary.

Gender, Place and Culture: a journal of feminist geography

This journal, published six times a year by Taylor and Francis, aims to provide a forum for debate in human geography and related disciplines on research concerned with gender issues. Key areas of interest include: geographical variations in gender divisions, gender relations and structures of oppression; the socio-cultural construction and the cultural politics of gender; the intersections between gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, class, age and other social divisions in relation to space, place and nature. In addition to full length articles, the journal's "Viewpoints" section aims to be a forum for debate through commentaries, discussions and other shorter pieces. Submissions are peer reviewed before inclusion in the journal. The site provides tables of contents and abstracts information. Full text articles are available online to users whose institutions have a subscription.

'Aether: journal of media geography' is a full-text online ejournal, published by California State University. At December 2008 there are three volumes online, containing articles such as: 'Playing the world: computer game, cartography, and spatial stories'; and 'Place, Placelessness, Insideness, and Outsideness in John Sayles' Sunshine State'. Volume Two was a special issue on 'the utopian and dystopian representations of digital landscapes', with a special focus on videogames. Articles are offered individually in PDF format, with copying and pasting functions disabled. The online contents page of each issue contains only the main section of each title, and not its subtitle - this makes it initially difficult to determine which article is likely to be of interest. The Aether website also contains the details one would expect to find for an academic journal, including details of the editors and editorial board, submission guidelines, and details of the Aether mailing list.
