THE-ICE is an initiative of the Australian federal government, and is one of five such centres created by the Department of Education Science and Training (DEST). Established in 2004, THE-ICE was set up to further develop the existing excellence in tourism and hospitality education. The centre also helps expand the range on international linkages between Australian institutions. THE-ICE is a membership organisation, open to institutions from federally funded universities, state funded vocational colleges (TAFEs) and private hotel schools. Members can participate in the International scholarship programme, details of which are available on the site. Browse for a course, qualification or for academic, research and industry expertise to retrieve a profile of the THE-ICE's expert and available courses in that area. It is also possible to register to receive updates on your specialist subject by email. There is also an interactive map of Australia, which requires the Macromedia Flash plug-in.
