http://www.folk.ru/
Russkii fol'klor v sovremennikh zapisiakh is the website of a research project on the folklore and folk culture of Russia, created by academics at St Petersburg State University. In addition to a wonderful digitised archive of primary source material, project fieldwork reports, monographs and articles on symbolic practices are made available online. The media archive gives access to video recordings on a wide variety of topics: peasant magic; festivals; childhood, marriage and funerals; fairytales; prose; ballads and love songs; dancing songs; chastushki (rhyming ditties). Most recordings include transcripts. A section on 'the semiotics of the Russian home' offers excerpts of home-related folklore (traditions and beliefs connected with windows, for example) and the 'open museum of biographies' describes an exhibition of memorabilia, photographs and egodocuments. The site also contains pages about the research project, courses, centre and staff, and biographies of the significant folklorist Vladimir Propp and philologist Natalia Gerasimova. In Russian language only, this is an invaluable resource for researchers and teachers of Russian culture.

Internet resources for Russian studies from the archive of Michael B. Petrovich (1922-1989)
http://www.creeca.wisc.edu/petrovich/
Internet Resources for Russian Studies from the Archive of Michael B. Petrovich (1922-1989) presents Petrovich's teaching of Russian and Soviet history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, incorporating digitized images and lectures. A fascinating and lengthy introduction by David McDonald, the current Professor of Russia History at Wisconsin-Madison, contextualises Petrovich's McCarthy-era teaching on Communism. Illustrated audio extracts of Petrovich's lectures on Russian History from 800-1800 and 1800-1917 (such as 'the Mongol Impact' and 'Industrialisation') are accompanied by online quizzes. The sound quality is reasonably good, but the site is not easy to navigate and Petrovich's teaching is dated. However, this resource offers interesting material for those researching the historiography of Russia and the Soviet Union, as well as potentially useful material for history teachers.
