The site brings together legal information for citizens, businesses and lawyers concerned with cross-border legal questions. There is background information on the court and legal systems of all member states and users have access to databases providing EU and national legislation and case law including EUR-Lex, N-Lex and JURE. Links to the founding treaties of the European Union, sources of international law and legal databases for individual member states are also provided. Other sections deal with particular topics including going to court, legal aid, mediation, family law and finding a lawyer in the EU. Information on legislative instruments to facilitate cross-border proceedings, including judicial cooperation and video conferencing, is also given. The project is being coordinated and hosted by the European University Institute in Italy. The aim of Priv-War is to look at the use of private military companies and security companies in situations of armed conflict and will examine the “regulatory framework at national, European and international levels, with a view to ensuring improved compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights”. Website of the UN Human Rights Council an inter-governmental organisation created by the UN General Assembly in 2006 as the successor body to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. The UNHRC is responsible for “strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe”. This Library of Congress web page provides access to the 15 volume collection of the Law Reports of Trials of War Criminals selected and prepared by the United Nations War Crimes Commission. The trials took place between 1947 and 1949. This collection has representative cases featuring lower-ranking military officers and concentration camp administrators who were tried for war crimes and does not include the trials of most prominent Japanese and Nazi leaders that took place in Nuremberg and Tokyo. Each volume is presented in full text PDF but the trials are summaries rather than full transcripts.

During World War Two the Nazis compelled many victims in occupied countries to sell properties and businesses. After the war the Western Allies agreed to restitute property taken and the United States, France and Britain each passed different legislation governing the restitution of property taken by Nazis. The US established the Court of Restitution Appeals (and its successor the Supreme Restitution Court Third Division) as a court of last resort for restitution cases. Twelve volumes of opinions and other documents of these two courts, from 1951 to 1966, can be searched or browsed on this site. Legal Portraits Online is a project of the Harvard Law School Library to digitise its collection of “over 4000 portrait images of lawyers, jurists, political figures, and legal thinkers dating from the Middle Ages to the late twentieth century”. In particular the collection includes images of eighteenth and nineteenth century British and American lawyers such as William Blackstone, Jeremy Bentham, John Marshall, and Joseph Story along with graduates of Harvard College and the Harvard Law School. The images can be searched using Harvard University Libraries' online catalogue of visual materials. Guidance is given on searching the catalogue along with a list of keywords used. Technical and cataloguing information can also be viewed on the site.

This site provides access to Lord Justice Jackson’s review of civil litigation costs including the preliminary and the final reports in full text PDF. The purpose of the review was to examine “the rules and principles governing the costs of civil litigation and to make recommendations in order to promote access to justice at proportionate cost”. The final report has sections looking at the funding of litigation, fixed costs, personal injury litigation, specific types of litigation (including intellectual property, judicial review and housing claims), controlling the costs of litigation and recommendations. The report’s recommendations include getting rid of referral fees paid to Claims Management companies, reform of Conditional Fee Agreements ("no win, no fee" agreements) and fixed costs for Fast Track Claims where the trial can be concluded in a day. This Harvard Law School Library collection contains papers donated by Harvard Law School Professor Edmund M. Morgan who was chair of the United States Committee on a Uniform Code of Military Justice (CUCMJ) in 1948. The papers form seven volumes and relate to the work of the Committee in creating a single uniform code to replace the separate codes that existed for the Army and Navy. The papers can be browsed or searched online by keyword. Digitisation of these papers is a joint project of the Harvard Law School Library, The Judge Advocate General's School Library and the Library of Congress. The site also gives a link to the Code and to a collection of military legal resources hosted by the Library of Congress.
