These include materials from Chinese University of Hong Kong; City University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong Baptist University; Lingnan University; The Hong Kong Institute of Education; The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Hong Kong. Users may search by keyword or browse. Research outputs include journal articles working papers, pre-prints, eprints, conference papers, theses and dissertations, many are offered on free open access. All topics of the sciences, social sciences and humanities are covered. There are particularly detailed materials on Chinese society, history, politics and economics and the history and culture of Hong Kong. Some materials are offered in Chinese only. This website provides free access to 1,000s of photographs from the archives of the National Library of Ireland. Resources of key importance for social researchers include the Independent Newspaper collection which contains over 3,000 images from 1912-1936.These are of value for the study of the social and political history of Ireland during this time. They include photographs of political parties (e.g. Sinn Fein) and Irish nationalist organisations. Other collections include: the Lawrence Royal collection of topographical scenes and the Poole collection (comprising over 5,000 studio portraits, plus scenes of social and political events and images of architecture and industry in the south east of Ireland during the early 20th Century.) Open Images is an open access collection which is being created by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and Knowledgeland. It aims to provide free online access to historic audiovisual and film materials from Dutch archives. These include many news reel clips. from the 20th Century onwards. It is possible to search or browse the site. All subject areas are covered with a particular emphasis on the social and political history of the Netherlands. LSE Library (also known as the British Library of Political & Economic Science) is the Library of the London School of Economics and Political Science and one of the largest libraries in the world devoted to the economic and social sciences. This is its free access photostream which is made available on the Internet via Flickr. It offers free access to 100s of photographs from the LSE archives. These include images of the LSE founders, famous LSE staff, students and guest visitors. The latter include many heads of state and famous guest lecturers at the LSE from the 1930s onwards.
